When was the last time that you heard someone say to you that you must invest in your social media relationships? Probably not very often as the only thing that I typically hear is “buy this product”, or invest in the latest and greatest product since sliced bread. The reality is one of the most important things that we can begin doing today online is investing in our social media relationships, as they will ultimately provide us with the greatest amount of return. Online relationships are no different than the ones we begin with other people in person. Each of them has to be nurtured in order to lead towards a desired goal. Without nurturing the relationship the result will be the same as not watering a plant on a regular basis, it will shrivel up and die!
So How Do You Begin Investing in Social Media Relationships?
You have to invest in the relationships you are building with social media by spending time getting to know the people you are connected with. Ask yourself this, how many people on Facebook that you are “friends” with do you truly know what is going on in their lives? Are you only posting what you had for dinner and pictures of yourself standing in front of a mirror? The key to Social Media is taking a key interest into the connections that you are building with people. Figure out who are 10-20 people that you want to get to know more because of a goal that you have in mind. The goal shouldn’t be to sell the people on your latest project you are working on, but how you can help to add value to their lives. You see one of the key things that people tend to forget about when building social media relationships is giving value first. The more you give value, the more you receive. People take notice of who around them helps them reach new levels of success, and in turn want to help those in return for their assistance. So before you begin to connect with more people, ask how you can help add value to their lives, and you will notice your social media relationships will be more solid than before.
Once you begin connecting with people on a deeper level than you have in the past, you must continually invest in the relationship. One thing that you can do is find out who do they need to be introduced to that can help them achieve their current goals, needs, or desires. This all goes back to investing in our social media relationships, as the most valuable asset we have are the relationships that we possess. To create wealth we have to share what we have, and the more we share our relationships the more we will be prosperous in life.
