Nancie Vito is a coach for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to reduce burnout, get unstuck and take steps towards what they truly want in life. With a background in mental health, her interests lie in mindset, mindfulness, and motivation.
For many years Nancie worked in the mental & public health field without knowing the extent to she was burnt out on the profession. She became an expert in depression & suicide prevention which weighed heavily on her. It was at this point she began studying the science of happiness and well-being, as she needed it personally and professionally.
One of the key ways that she learned to deal with stress was to separate herself from it. If you don’t make a conscious effort to emotionally separate yourself from what occurs around you, you can quickly find yourself dragged down.
A challenge that many people have in their lives is not knowing that they are burnt out. Often we are taught to simply push through. Have you ever noticed how someone can become disengaged, not care, be cranky, etc? Those are signs that someone may be experiencing burn out in what they are doing.
Overcoming burnout can sometimes mean changing careers, but that comes with moving past fear of change in your life. Many times people are fearful of changing careers because of routine. Think about how someone who has done one thing in their lives suddenly must change careers due to a layoff? Do you think they are relaxed, or are they stressed? It is no different than when you are voluntarily changing careers, as you are changing the routine you are used to in your life.
Ultimately you must learn how to become comfortable being uncomfortable in your life. As an entrepreneur, it is vital that you know when to turn things off so you can recharge yourself for the next day to avoid burning out.
The One Thing anyone can do in their lives to overcome burnout is to begin journaling. You want to carve out quiet time to do the things that are important to you. Through this process, you want to identify the root causes of what is creating stress and burnout in your life. That is the first step to begin overcoming it.
