Host of two hot podcasts; The Business Building Rockstars Show & Get Guest Ready, Nicole Holland helps subject matter experts increase their visibility exponentially through podcast guesting to create greater impact, influence, and income.
Nicole originally launched her business by hosting a virtual summit. She chose this as it would provide her with the ability to make a big impact fast. During one of the interviews, she was encouraged to try podcasting. As a result of this, she now teaches others how to utilize podcasts to grow their business as well as provides full podcasting services to clients.
Growing a podcast requires leveraging relationships. When she first launched her podcast, she spent time interacting with contacts on Facebook asking people if they had heard of it and for them to listen. It was reaching out to people because she thought they would benefit from it, not simply to increase download numbers.
By far the biggest source of subscribers for her podcast is Twitter. The best way to use the platform is to target people who would be ideal listeners and begin conversations with them.
In regards to being a podcast guest, the key is to be open and flexible. Allow the interview to go in the direction where the host wants to take it. The audience that is there cares about the hosts’ message. When you allow your message to fit into theirs, you will do well as a guest.
An important tip for podcasts guests to remember when being interviewed is to look for ways to educate vs sell. People love to buy but don’t like to be sold. When you focus on only selling, you will have a minimal impact. However, when you take the time to educate, people will want to reach out to you to learn more about who you are and how you can help them.
The One Thing that potential podcasts guests can do is to think about how you want to be treated and reciprocate accordingly. Share the episode, don’t expect the host to do all of the work. The more you contribute to the success of the episode, the better the results.
