Elyse Hughes is a writer, cat lady and open-heart creative. Her TEDx Talk, Learn to Love Your Ugly Bits, encourages embracing ourselves fully to live extraordinarily.
Elyse’s journey into writing began while she was in the 3rd grade. However, over the years she denied her talent for an entire decade after college which led her to make some dark choices in life. This led her to discover her spirituality in life.
One of the things she discovered is that during each phase of growth in life, you will hit a wall that you must push through.
Part of the journey to create growth in life is appreciating where you are in life. It is easy to beat ourselves up when things are not going our way, or we are not where we want to be. It’s important to look at every aspect of our journey as there are many parts the public doesn’t see. When we look at someone’s success online or offline, we are only seeing a small glimpse into their world. We don’t get to experience the late nights they spent working on their product or service, or the hard times they had to go through while on their own journey.
Because entrepreneurs tend to be chronic learners, it is vital for each and every person who is one to spend more time taking action vs learning a new skill. To achieve higher levels of success, every entrepreneur will reach a point when it is more effective to hire someone with a particular skillset than to learn it.
The One Thing Elyse recommends is to ask yourself are you able to show up as yourself and do what you love to do unapologetically. It will be your fuel, your fire in life.
